WHY I WRITE!

I take up this challenge to participate in Ugblog MonthChallenge running from April 19th to May 9th.

Writing had never been my cup of tea because of my Mind set. As I grew up, it was planted in my head that only people that had a chance to study Literature were capable of writing something interesting for publication. I envied people that spoke and wrote good English but later became intentional and gained confidence after reading some articles of people I knew in newspapers and realised that even the “is and was” article can be published and read.

At the end of 2019, God brought it to my face through two close friends of mine who started blogging and I was challenged to throw away my writing fears and dress up confidence of a writer no matter the content. 2020 became the year to ensure I arrange the alphabets in a way that makes sense to me and to those who would get a chance to read my write ups.

Why I write…

I write to learn how to write.
Having grown up with a “mind disability”, I needed to be liberated and bring out my ability. This is involving learning, unlearning and relearning.
Writing comes with thinking through what you want to write, who you are writing to, what message you want to deliver and how it should be packaged. As I write, every blog has been an improved version of the previous one and the learning goes on and on. Thank you my readers for your great feedback.

I write to bring reality to my reader’s face.
Naturally, I am realist and I believe in real life not ideal. I love to open up my reader’s mind and eyes to his/her everyday life style which he/she may have taken for granted. What I see, hear, read, visualise, experience and do makes my story.

I write out my thoughts about common ideas about the every day life because everyday makes our weeks, months and years of life lived. Decisions made today affect our tomorrow, our retirement age and what will be spoken on our burial day. It is better to utilise today than wait for tomorrow, for tomorrow’s chances are limited since we are not guaranteed of the opportunities we had today.

I write to tell my story, my experience, my life for I believe someone out there might share the same platform with me or he/she maybe encouraged by my story. As a realist, I believe Life Is determined by me, My story makes who I am and my life reflects the legacy what shall be read by another generation. I also believe that our uniqueness from creation makes each of us a great ingredient to someone’s life and this would only happen if our uniqueness is shared in a script.

I write to remind, encourage, counsel and speak to myself and someone/ my readers. 24 hrs of living each day comes with so many opportunities and storms which affect our life positively or negatively. I do believe my write ups do soothe someone or ring a bell in their minds that life is determined by you and so our mindsets must be changed to living in reality with personality not trivial.

I encourage you to write too, it is gets enjoyable along the way and brings a certain fulfilment deep inside you.
