What I wish People would stop doing!!

Life, Oh life! we are born to the unknown world with all the uniqueness that God knitted in us; and what is clear in the bible is that after Creation, God saw that all he created was beautiful. what makes us then behave the way we behave to an extent of making your neighbour uncomfortable with you?

Anyway, if all wishes were horses, beggars would ride. Let me just list the things that turn me off, things that are not socially accepted but people have continued to do and I wish they would stop.

How I wish people stopped putting others down. Go ahead and support a neighbour to achieve, shine and break through than pull them back for you to have the platform. it is good to know that, as long as that opportunity isn’t yours, it will get back to the owner.

How I wish people stopped backstabbing others. I have been in a circle of people who are termed as friends but before you know it, the “friend” has gone ahead to kill the others’ image, they start wishing others bad and even try all ways to steal other people’s blessings/ opportunities within the circle. I know you have heard of couples that have had issues because of close friends, parents and even relatives. it is prudent enough to be a genuine friend or leave that circle of people instead of destroying them.

How I wish people stopped being corrupt. while I agree that this is a cancer eating up my Country Uganda, Innocent people have suffered. Have you moved to a public office for a service and the officer in charge asks for Lunch? This is so painful; one wonders why they still hold that position if it wasn’t taking care of their Lunch. Corruption in big offices is one issues I do not want to talk about now- the reason the poor will toiling while the rich keep eating the fruits because no one cares.

How I wish people stopped peeing on streets, in car tyres / open urination. It is currently not even measured- the number of people that pee openly are not measured because the percentage is high here in Uganda. what bothers me is that people just pee without out minding about who is seeing at that moment. Thanks be to God, there is no more hand shaking.

How I wish people stopped using other people’s hearts and bodies as playing toys. why not commit to love someone if indeed you feel you love them. It is sad that most girls and women have fallen victims of this game- this has left their hearts in pieces and made them lose trust, self esteem, self worth, self confidence and self love. Thinking about it just hurts!

Oh how I wish people stopped stealing and worked for their bread to eat. I live in a country where owning a phone becomes a threat to your life, wearing a necklace, watch and ear rings with a genuine metal guarantees you going back home with a twisted hand, torn ears and scratched neck; parking a car on the street is a welcome from the den of thieves and having a good home gives you sleepless nights as your ears must be alert all the time.

How I wish people stopped selling fake products as though they were genuine. Fake products are all over to an extent that a person will have a big shop -30% of the products are genuine while 70% are all fake but just mixed up, sold out all as genuine. Business men and women; be kind enough to think through how we toil for the money we bring to you.

How I wish people stopped talking Ill about other people’s religions. we have an influx of hungry preachers in churches, streets and in communities who have lost it. Instead of preaching the word of God, they have chosen to “rubbish” other religions to just win people on their sides. It gets me wondering about what God would say if came at that point.

How I wish people stopped being selfish but just be considerate. This gets to how we behave towards/ relate with our helpers in our homes, to In-laws, workmates, neighbours and to the vulnerable people. It really costs us nothing to be good, to do good and to do to others what you would want them to do to you.

How I wish people stopped borrowing if they can not pay back in time. While the principle I was taught was, lend out what you are ready to lose. sometimes it is hard to say no, to someone very close to you when they ask for a certain amount of money that you know they need, and you actually have it. People have lost trust, friendship and property because of debts.

How I wish people stopped witchcraft. African chemistry is real, I have seen people suffer with funny diseases, lose lives, lose their property, lose their identity, lose their marriages and all they had on earth due to either practising witchcraft or they have been bewitched. May the lord open our eyes to only trust in Him for all we need.

How I wish people stopped throwing rubbish all over the places without minding about the environment. Have you walked on streets or been travelling and saw a person passing their hand through a window of their expensive car to throw out rubbish? This has exposed the number of uncivilised people we have in and around us. Be responsible and throw your rubbish in a dust bin when you get to your destination.

Lastly, how I wish people stopped infidelity. whatever causes it whether the spirit of lust, selfishness, revenge or witchcraft; this is not a justification in anyway. Families have been broken, suicide and domestic violence cases are increasing daily, depression is on the rise in people, levels of insanity are increasing, prisons are being filled up which is affecting communities and the country socially. God give your people the grace to be trustworthy and to genuinely love their spouses in good and bad times.
