This is how it is!

Day 16/21 Ugblogmonthchallenge

I am tasked to write about Religion or politics. Today, let me choose one way, Religion.

what is the meaning of Religion in the first place…..?….It is the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.

Religion was not part of our forefathers’ tradition but the coming of missionaries introduced them to this belief of a God, the super power, the creator and Maker of heaven and us. This made the belief in small gods and African Traditional Society slowly but surely lose attention as they kept changing but also, as more and more aggressive preachers of the word of God through religion came up. I am sorry I will not go into the years of existence of each religion in Uganda.

We mainly have 2 religions- Christianity and Islam. Christianity is four Categories- Roman Catholic, Protestants, Pentecostals and Seventh day Adventists. Jehovah's Witness is not mentioned among the Categories but it is one religion that is well practised here in Uganda.

My religious Views……this might be more christian because it is what i am well accustomed to. This is also a sensitive topic to many of us especially when feels you do not understand what you are talking about when an argument comes up.

It okay to believe in what you believe in, as long as it subscribes to God who created heaven and earth, the author of life. No one is supposed to question you because usually this is part of the personal decisions one makes or some of us were born and baptised before we could understand where to belong. after growing up, we have embraced it.

One of the Catholic Cathedrals in Pittsburgh

As a catholic, I am happy, proud and contented in the way we serve our God through three main pillars, The Sacred scripture (The Holy bible), The sacred tradition of Church and Living Magisterium (The Catholic Church’s Teaching Authority). This is the reason this church has been moved amidst the storms it has gone through and everything is the same all over continents. Be happy with what your religion.

I believe it is not good for any preacher to stand on a pulpit to talk ill of other religions or other people’s Churches. My personal view is, preach to the flock you have as the spirit has led you, how to love the God.

I look forward to a church (Christian churches) that teaches its flock how to fish so they may have a good life.

I look forward to a church which doesn’t drain its followers especially the Pentecostal churches here in my motherland Uganda but teaches them how to make use of the money they make.

I look forward to a church that does not have leaders who fight one another on media and in public. This is very common in my Country.

I look forward to a church that is not attached to individuals and where Christians are not attached to the pastor/ apostle/ prophet but to God who they believe in.

I look forward to a church that is not seen as a source of income by those who establish it. while It is well known that poverty and high levels of unemployment are among the reasons most churches are continuing to come up in developing countries especially Uganda, it is high time God saved His people from wrong leaders that have such a mind set.

Religion may not be of value to God’s people if it does not water the seed of values, morals. This is all found the holy Bible and Holy Qua-ran but some people have Misunderstood, misused, and misapplied it mostly for their own benefit.

Religion is a very sensitive topic to talk about as it raises eyebrows if a person involved in a discussion isn’t ready to take it lightly.
