A slap to real life
It is the Second Saturday of the “hot” January 2020, I am excited to start a new life of adult education, call it adult challenge as you are back to class to shift from a comfortable zone corner to the most uncomfortable zone of your life.
You may want to know who motivated me to face the entrance of a class/ lecture room to just be made uncomfortable when there is an internal little satisfaction of my current career growth.
A close friend of mine who usually shows a Not- serious character at first encounter suffered the consequences of her decision to start a leadership course at Harvest Institute. You would never meet her and do not find her with a book to read or a fully charged tablet for her continuous reading whenever she got a 10 min opportunity. She became an active and serious blogger which made me draw my attention to blogging though I didn’t try it but you can be sure I did not miss reading any of the published blogs because I enjoyed the arrangement of the alphabets that made her monthly stories.
Fast Forward, I decided to take up the bitter challenge this year 2020 to stretch myself beyond my elasticity. I was indeed challenged — First, by having the first class in life that has well set tables of flasks of tea, jars of juice for over 100 students that never went dry at any minute with eats- call them escorts which participants chose to pick and pack on the tables as they tried to insure against risks of missing out just in case they got finished as though applying Insurance policies but alas, eats became eats, baskets remained full.
As though this wasn’t enough, the music as an energiser,🎶🎶 call it ice breaker made ever participants body shake withholding nothing, the dance instructor made us forget that it was a serious, life stretching leadership class with strokes that were out of this Christian world.
The lecturer/speaker articulated all details of what is expected of us and the leadership team, every statement that came out was interesting as though not serious but very serious with reminders that Leaders must know in their journey. Sessions ended with clear catch words to ponder on DO IT NOW, WHO HAS THE PEN, WRITE YOUR STORY DON’T ALLOW ANOTHER PERSON TO WRITE IT FOR YOU…
My two friends and I step out testifying how we were in the right place and Yes we had to think of how simple to crown the day.
We drive away as we prepared our appetite for a nice meal as a way to mark our beginning of a new life, new year, new career challenge. It wasn’t long that I picked my phone to check out who could have looked out for me the whole day in vain and my eyes went straight to my workplace platform which had over 40 messages that rang a bell of suspicion since this was abnormal as per the culture of forum. Questions sounded within me, what’s up with colleagues? why all these messages?… My thumb had to quickly click on it and Yes a serious slap to my right hand Cheek to took me back to factory settings. My Colleague with whom I had had good moments the previous day as we crowned our hectic week of training had breathed her last…….confusion dropped in, I couldn’t hold my phone anymore, everything made no sense anymore and reality hit in after a few minutes of silence with teary eyes…….. DO IT NOW…because you are not sure of tomorrow. Become a leader, a father, a mother, a friend you desire to be now, Love now, care about yourself and others right now, Do good now, encourage, share, celebrate life now for tomorrow is only guaranteed in Faith in lord Jesus. We plan but God has the Calendar for us
“Only faith can guarantee the blessings that we hope for, or prove the existence of realities that are unseen”. (Hebrews 11:1)
